Regardless of the path they choose, all dwarves leave the home in which they grew up once they reach adulthood and move in with whoever will act as trainer in their trade. The bond forming between master and apprentice is one that is appreciated as the much as the parental one is.

Once a master determines his or her pupil has learned all that the master can teach, a time of contemplation is imposed on the apprentice to adapt slowly to this transition. During this time, they normally pair with a significant other, commonly related by the trade they have taken. Eventually, they decide to either continue the family's or the master's trade or to establish one of their own.
