The brownies who inhabit the island labeled this forest as the Woods of Transparency for the times of the year when the leaves fall from the trees. They come here then and play with childlike abandon in the leaf pile drifts. As the leaves begin to rot they often become semi -transparent. It is for this translucent property of the decaying fallen leaves that the brownies named the woods.

The woods themselves are teeming with animal life and it is common to see large groups of cats near the eastern boundary. This is one area of the forest that the brownies fear to tread for fear of being eaten by one of the many big cats.
