The Arcane Archer is often seen as the ultimate embodiment of archery, and rightly so. Their ability to blend archery with magical enhancements makes an Arcane Archer a formidable force indeed. Through recorded history, Arcane Archers have been credited with turning the tide of battles or winning them all together. There have been legends of Arcane Archers so powerful and deadly that people flee before them.

The practice of Arcane Archery began with elves millennia ago, not long after both archery and magic became integral to the elven culture. It remains one of the few cultural practices to survive the schism between the various elven factions known today. Curiously enough, the talent remains specific to those with an elven bloodline, leading those who study such things to believe that there is something specific to elven blood that enables Arcane Archery. Most elves would state simply that it is proof of elven superiority, though the same elves are conspicuously tight-lipped when asked to explain how half-elves also exhibit the talent.

The concept of Arcane Archery is a simple one: melding archery and arcane magic. While it is not unique or even uncommon to Arcane Archers to utilize the Al'Noth to enhance one's chosen weapon, only Arcane Archers are capable of delivering such enhancement to each and every arrow that leaves their bows. This combination of ranged attacks and magical enhancement becomes a very potent and deadly mix. Since an Arcane Archer's power is used to imbue their ammunition, the results can go beyond simple enhancement of one's weapon to something that is unique to the practice. Arrows that explode, unerringly reach their target or kill with a single hit are all possible through this practice.

As the name suggests, arcane magical ability is required to perform such feats, but it does not matter how this talent comes to an Arcane Archer. Those who practice magic through study or who possess innate talent seem equally capable of becoming Arcane Archers.
