Magic is a very touchy subject to dwarves; it is not something that is used in battle. There is little honor in striking someone down with imaginary devices or enhancing oneself through anything but dedication and self determination. Very few dwarves are taught magic, let alone being promoted within clan life. They do not consider their weapons carved in runes and alchemical paint to be magical.
The only acceptable magic in a dwarf's life is prayer answered by their gods, and even then, those are only asked under the most extreme of circumstances.
