The Dragonsong Dominion, reputed to be home to the best shipbuilders in the world, improved on the original design of the basic Reconnoiter class vessel. They increased its size, gave it a slightly shallower draft and created a more effective version of the ship. The main advantage of this ship is that it can be used in all the coastal ports of Corsain, regardless of the depth of their harbors.

When a Note of Dragonsong is launched, tradition dictates that its first captain brings aboard a copper horn, which has never before been sounded. As he takes his place at the helm for the first time, the captain is expected to blow this horn once and then name the vessel. The horn is then sounded every time the ship goes into battle.

Other nations and a few large mercantile organizations have expressed much interest in purchasing these ships, which currently are only being built in the shipyards of the Dragonsong Dominion and its neighbor, Driran Kingdom. The Drirans call the ships Notes of Driran.
