The self tell is very similar to the tell, but is only visible to the player sending it. Self tells are created by typing a semicolon into the chat bar followed by the command one wishes to use, I.E. ;save
. Their usefulness is due to their ability to allow players to roll dice and use commands without cluttering up the chat window in game, which helps to preserve immersion.
A few special systems such as language ears use other self tell commands, I.E. the =l
command. The command =c
works like the semicolon for most systems, but a few systems require using =c
instead of the semicolon.
