Lake Summit: History and Rumors

While in truth the Lazy River is sourced from the many brooks and rivulets that empty into Lake Summit, the island's inhabitants regard the lake itself as the mighty river's origin. The lake, which appears to have once been a large crater, is very deep and holds a vast reservoir of water. These waters eventually overflow the southern lip of the lake, plummeting a hundred feet in a thunderous waterfall. It is in the aftermath of this overflow that the river begins its meandering journey south.

The lake also empties at its northern edge, where a small stream leaves the lake. This northern branch of the Lazy River grows as it is fed by other tributaries until it reaches Girrac's northern shore.

Lake Summit is teeming with wildlife of all sorts from the Forest of Cover, as well as other lifeforms which remain unseen below its calm, deep blue surface. Most of the creatures that populate the lake and its shores are harmless, but every so often darker creatures stir from deep within the forest and cause problems for a while before once more disappearing into the forest's ancient and mysterious shadows.

Occasionally brownies and other fey make their way up to the cliffs around the lake's waterfall in order to have diving competitions. These can often be dangerous and foolhardy affairs and more than one creature has been lost to the churning depths below the waterfall or to the depths of the lake itself.
