Raven's Watch is surrounded by a semicircular rampart and palisade protecting them town from land attacks, while giving its inhabitants free access to the sea. Beacon hills dot the landscape of the island and act as part of a warning system to alert Raven's Watch. During times of war, the hills are manned and a watch is kept. If an enemy approaches, the beacons are lit and the warriors form up at traditional muster points before assembling into even greater numbers. Each warrior carries his own rations and weapons but shares his tent with a small group of comrades. Five or six tents of eight men will make up a longship. This system is both simple and effective, and the hills and gathering points have been used for generations. The surprisingly quick and effective response of the Krashinites has fooled more than one invading force and kept them at bay.
