Creedo: Defenses

Since the occupation, gates have been added around Creedo to enable walling of the city off near the highest ground. The Brazier Way has two sets of gates as well as archer stations along the hill, and forms a natural choke point to any attack coming from the harbor. If the attack comes from the rolling hillsides on the other side of town, the gates can be dropped to allow people time to board ships and escape.

In charge of all this defensive capacity as well as the fifty-year-old Creedo Town Guard (much larger now, than before Bloodstone's time) is Kiyomi Tzau, formerly of Huangjin. She runs essentially two Guards -- the town guard, that patrols the streets and breaks up the occasional Shinball fan fight, and the Town Guard which consists of sixty-five soldiers in constant training rotation. The second guard, always spoken of with a measure of respect and some awe, has been a sticking point with the Mido and Kagi and therefore is done under the auspice of a "town guard" although most people in Creedo know it is essentially a small army.

The fledgling Creedo Navy, at present nine seaworthy ships with two more being fitted, is also stationed in the expanding port and is supposed to be training under Meran Merandar. Meran is not a man to put himself out, however, and finds the amenities of his position far more entertaining than the actual work. Captain the Seventh Joral Swinson has taken it upon himself in the absence of any real leadership to run simulations of battle, and despite his utter lack of people skills, he has become the stealth leader of the Navy.
