Enderal: History and Rumors

Enderal has long been that mysterious island that ships give a wide berth to when sailing between the Broken Corals and the Dragon Isles' destructive reefs. There are many stories of sirens inhabiting the northern and eastern coastlines who will try to entice ships to steer for the deadly reefs so that they may feast upon those aboard, and it is a brave'or foolish'captain indeed that steers within earshot of the sirens' compelling voices.

Over time numerous forays have been made to the island as captains attempt to find safe coves in which to anchor and explore the inner island and claim its supposed riches, but to date no such ventures have been successful. To this day much of Enderal remains a mystery to the rest of the world. In fact, it was only in the last decade that a location was found where someone could land relatively safely on the island. As the number of attempts by adventurers and treasure seekers to gain access to the island is only increasing, it is only a matter of time before more information is discovered about it.

The island itself used to be solely inhabited by fey, najashanian and trolls. The satyrs now living there came from large groups that were swept away from the main clan while crossing from Caesin to Aryte when the lycanthropes of Caesin threatened to wipe them out of existence. These stranded members of the Broken Horn clan established their homes in the southern regions of the island and flourished until they met resistance from the najashanian and troll populations in the northern swamps and bogs.

There were numerous clashes between the satyrs and the native denizens'and between the trolls and najashanian as well'until mysteriously, around the year 1178, many of the najashanian seemed to suddenly disappear. Over the century that followed the satyrs returned to their peaceful lifestyles while keeping a watchful eye on the slowly growing troll populations.

The satyrs have mused for years about what happened to the najashanian and stories have been passed down of trolls taking over the najashanian villages, but how the trolls, who had been in the minority, had suddenly overcome the najashanian is not clear and still remains a mystery. Since that time, the trolls have become the dominant force in northern Enderal 'a fact which is making the satyr communities increasingly nervous.
