Gi did not have a sitchu until 1414. No one was sure that the taun had even survived until 1411, and before that it had enjoyed independence from governmental interference due to the nature of what was made. When Jeeh Ahn, a former apprentice of Akane Shen'shou, took her finest work to present to the mido, she did not know of his condition. He was highly unstable that day, and the kagi was out of Huangjin on business. When she knelt on shaking legs and held forward the katana she had spent months making, the mido was so impressed, he immediately proclaimed her Sitchu of Gi. One of the kagi's administrators took pity on the shell-shocked woman and explained to her how her life had just changed, sending her back to Gi with proclamations, laws, mandates, and tax collection expectations.

This sudden intrusion did not sit well with the citizens. It took almost a year and a visit from the kagi for the people to finally realize that the new laws and the new taxes were here to stay. Since the kagi's visit, Sitchu Jeeh has encountered less resistance and the taun has settled into a routine once again. Problems are solved as they always have been by a council of peers, and Jeeh is not interested in changing that. She often takes council with Rota Bobbins, the elected representative of the Efficiency Collective.
