Lake of Waining: History and Rumors

The lake itself is inhabited by a vast array of aquatic life both large and small. There is also a colony of frog-like people living on its shore. The large lake is generally shunned by other sentient creatures from the surrounding forest due to the high risk of being taken by other creatures that dwell in the lake. It's not uncommon to see a young doe make its way to the shore to bend and drink from the water of the lake, only to disappear within a huge up thrust of water moments later. Only the waves lapping urgently against the shore give any indication that moments before a young doe was preparing to drink. The glimpse of a monstrous head before the water settles is often the only clue as to what kind of predators dwell here.
