River of Depths: History and Rumors

Over time the swift river has cut deep swathes into the landscape, altering its course on only a few rare occasions over time. The nature of the soft, yielding earth beneath the river has meant that over time it has formed very deep channels that hold all manner of creatures. There are very few places where the water is relatively safe to cross. Most travelers crossing the river must do so at one of several sturdy bridges of wood and rope that provide safe passage across the mighty river south of the Hoof Encampment.

The river flows towards Shell Lake and approximately three statute miles from the lake it ends in a deep valley where the water seems to spiral slowly underground.
