Sandbar Coast: History and Rumors

From information gained in Cal'ar: A Legend of Fact, the Sandbar Coast is the original northern coast of the continent that broke during the Cataclysm. The sands are soft and warm, perfect for romping or just resting on; except for the sand fleas, this is a favorite spot of lovers, strollers, waders, and artists. Swimmers in these waters are a rarity, however.

While similar to many other tropical coastlines around the world, the Sandbar Coast is noted for the frequency in which the sands rearrange themselves. It is hypothesized that the undertow could be a reason for the constantly moving sands as it is swift and deadly and runs the length of the coast. However, some say that the undertow, while strong and certainly responsible for the ever-moving sand islands, is not what wraps around ankles and pulls waders into deep water and their deaths; some say that is something else, the same something that makes off with crab traps and causes small crabbing boats to go missing on occasion. For right now, no one knows. One witness, a crabber, has come forward with a description but it's as vague as the theories of the coast itself:

Did see a shape. Long it was, looked silvery. Head popped outta the water long enough for me to see a fin on top but it weren't no shark. Mebbe longer than a man, by a trap-length or so. Too long to be a sandbar biter. Kinda skinny too. Tried for a gull, missed it, went back under. Can't tell you much more. Was only mebbe a minute.

Some believe him, some dismiss the sighting as a dolphin or large fish, but both the beauty and the dangers of the waters along the Sandbar Coast continue unchanged.
