Stop Clock

From The World of Layonara

The Stop Clock, though a favorite myth and legend, is likely naught but a fantasy born of an overactive imagination; it is doubtful that this artifact ever existed at all. If it had, argue the skeptics, its bearer would surely be in control of the world by now. Nonetheless, the curious artifact makes for an interesting tale.

It is said that the Stop Clock resembles nothing more extraordinary than a simple bronze sundial, albeit one that was mounted on the tooth of a dragon. It is the properties of this legendary object that are remarkable; the one who possesses such an object is said to also possess the power to control time itself.

Old stories have it that when the humanoid gods took an interest in Layonara, they created the item in order to establish their place in the world without fearing the interference of the dragon gods. Once the tooth is stabbed into the soil, time stops and awaits the commands of its new master. Using a simple light, the dial may be spun in reverse, turning time backwards with each rotation.

More myth than legend, the Stop Clock is more often the subject of a child's bedtime story than those stories adventurers whisper around campfires late at night. Stop Clock or no, your time is yours to control. Make the best of it while you can.
