Sun Castle: Government and Politics

Most of the political wrangling that occurs in Sun happens behind the beautiful tower walls. The monarch rarely leaves the confines of the castle so all kingdom petitions must be dealt with in the common chambers. Vissages and the queen hear petitions and debates on treaties, economics and policy through the day. Only one day each season is set aside for the king or queen to hear the cases of the commoners. Those who are brave enough to voice complaints directly to the crown must do so via a specially constructed court building just inside the entrance to the castle grounds.

The castle is generally alive with some court function or another at all times. Costumed balls, Xeenite feasts, and tournaments are common occurrences to amuse the nobility. Traditionally the day of the full moon each month would be greeted by a dawn feast marking the acceptance of any suitable infant children into the ranks of Sunese nobility. This celebration has become less noticeable of late because of the absence of the sun and the moons presence in the skies of Layonara.
