Damage Resistance refers to any ability that allows a creature to ignore damage from a specific Damage Type.

 

  • Damage resistance is represented by a numerical value followed by a slash, a dash, and the damage type or category being resisted. For example, 10/- vs. Fire or 30/- vs. Elemental.
  • The numerical value represents the amount of damage ignored, or resisted, by the ability. For example, a Tiefling has damage resistances of 5/- vs. Cold, 5/- vs. Fire, and 5/- vs. Electricity. If a Sorcerer casts a Fireball on the Tiefling, the Tiefling will ignore the first five points of damage from the burning magic.
  • Damage resistance versus the same type or category of damage never stacks with itself. For example, if you have an item that gives you 10/- vs. Cold, and you cast the spell Protection from Elements, which gives you 30/- vs. Elemental, then you don't have 40/- vs. Cold. You have 30/- vs. Elemental (which includes Cold) until the spell's ability to absorb damage is used up.
  • Damage Reduction is a special form of damage resistance.
