The Sandbar Coast is aptly named. The beaches here are finely grained, and the bright white dunes and sandbars come and go with alarming frequency. The dunes often collapse, forming makeshift cliffs that are gone by the next visit. Seagulls dot the waters around the coast and sand fleas are a menace to the beachgoer during the warmest months.

Crabs and lobsters grow large toward the western side and the red wooden balls of crap traps compete with the gulls for space on the deep green water. Crocodiles are rarely seen farther west than Huangjin, preferring the calmer waters around the Redland estuary, but close to shore all along the coast is the three-foot sandbar shark. Despite its small size, this little beige predator is not afraid to take a bite off a much bigger creature and will swarm when blood is in the water.
