Fort Zakumo: Defenses

The first line of defense is the location. Scouts patrol mountainside perches, keeping watch for hostiles in every direction. If an army were to get close to the fort, the outer wall would be the next obstacle at two feet thick by fifteen feet high of magically reinforced stone. The outer wall is so smeared with spells those with arcane sensitivity liken it to a mage finger-painting the Al'Noth.

The inner wall skims the fort, wooden and spiked with a razor edge and dotted with archer's windows. The gate is braced with iron. The fort itself is designed to bottleneck aggressors and strongly favors those who know the layout by heart as quarters are cramped and passages narrow and seemingly random. The barracks, however, are wide open spaces and designed that way. In case of an assault, enemy soldiers would be lured first into one of the open barracks, then mages would rain down spell after withering spell from secret windows in the second story of the connecting fort.

Should all else fail the Telish soldiers could escape through hatches in the basement of the fort, pouring into the mining tunnels like sand through an hourglass, and detonating the powerful wards set around the base of the fort and the walls. Clearly, after Bloodstone's march, the army of the Telish Throne does not intend to make invasion easy for anyone.
