Prantz: Defenses

The walls of Prantz now stand stronger than at any other point in its history. Heavily reinforced masterwork masonry banded with adamantium make Prantz a beacon of impenetrable solidarity in the darkened world. Ballistae and catapults line the walls and are manned by many sharp-eyed Deep dwarf guards. Patrolmen perpetually walk the streets with guards stationed seemingly on every corner, watching for the slightest hint of wrongdoing and responding with haste to any incident. Security is not a concept in Prantz; it is a way of life.

Inside and under the city proper are hidden caverns where rotational training for the army commences on a daily basis. Only the most promising and most loyal train here, spurred on by the deep, echoing bellow of James Brother-to-Steel, sergeant of Lord Rael's troops. James' brigade is considered the deadliest, most highly-trained unit in the entire Rael military.

Now, housed in the temple to Sulterio, the Rael Chosen (a group of Sulterio's battle clerics loyal to the Deep Lord) train in war tactics and the use of their god's powers. They augment Lord Rael's troops and provide protective and offensive spells blessed by the Adamantium One to the rank-and-file and mete out the healing to keep the troops fighting. Their training includes sensitivity to the Al'Noth, not to better understand or use it but to ferret it out wherever it is being used and bring the perpetrator to justice. Martalo De'Ferrum leads those clerics who go to war, while Chosen Jakaras Maulhandle runs the day-to-day operations of the church in Prantz.

With the All'ra both patrolling the streets and slipping, nearly invisible, between buildings and down alleys, a fourth layer of security is added. Those who would run the city, while under glamors of illusion, cannot fool the Al'Noth-altered lavender eyes of these Deep dwarves. Mages and clerics of all kinds cannot touch them. Those who would challenge them to a straight fight soon find how deceptive an unarmed and unarmored man can be.
