Village of Silence

What is visible outside the walls is mucky ground alternating with marsh. The former city of Niwah is built in a valley of the Spine Mountains, and catches rainfall as well as runoff from the slopes. All that can be seen are the iron gates sealing the long, curving wall that surrounds the city.

The gates are shut and locked, and although rusting are formidable still. The wall surrounding the town is quite easy to scale now, however, as time has etched hand and foot holds in the quarried rocks. Plants and vines provide further stability. The wards on the gates are weak enough to only deliver a brief shock when touched, and the walls are devoid of wards in several locations.

The flora drips moisture continuously, and the humidity around this area is unbearable; just standing in one spot brings sweat across one's hairline. Standing close to the walls, the village is not in fact silent, but full of animal sounds and those who have gone nearer say that the sound of feet can be heard from time to time near the walls.

Snakes, lizards, and vividly plumaged birds are seen everywhere. The snakes seem to grow to monstrous proportions and even the lizards can reach the size of a full grown man. The trees are a mix of sweet bay, brush-flower, and dragon trees.
