Vorax: Clergy Attire

The favored weapon of the clergy of Vorax is a dwarven-made battleaxe. Alchemical enchantments of silver are often added as they are exceptionally handy when fighting the undead minions of Vorax's enemies. Since recent days, more and more warriors will have the Rune Carvers engraved on the weapon as well. The preferred armor of the clergy and followers is silvered full plate with red trim or accents to emulate the armor worn by the Father of Battle. The temple clergy, when not in battle dress, wear robes of red with silver and gold highlights and threading. They tend to wear very formal robes, however, since such attire is less conducive to idleness of the body. War Priests of Vorax rarely go anywhere without their armor on. Instead, they have robes fitted to be worn over the outside of their armor. Although many followers spend less time in armor than out of it, the War Priests are the exception, usually only taking it off to sleep, bathe, or clean the armor itself. It is customary for a follower of the Father of Battle to wear a necklace with a miniature double-headed battle axe on it. These axes are made from a variety of metals: copper, silver, gold, or iron, with and without jewels or engraving. But if one sees a plain, unadorned axe hanging around the neck of one of the faithful, and it shines so bright the metal looks almost white--then you are looking at a hero of the church, for only they may wear an axe made of mithril. The Mithril Axe is awarded to those who do a specific, monumental deed for the church. In one case, a young female rescued orphaned infants from a temple under attack by dark elves; in another, a warrior single-handedly defended a caravan of acolytes from a massive kobold ambush. Recipients do not have to be members of the church, but they must be followers of Vorax, and it is the Council Vigilant that decides who is worthy of this honor.
