James Brother-to-Steel

He is a Deep dwarf with a face carved of granite. When he's happy, his thin lips are set in a straight line and his brown eyes are impassive. When he's sad, his thin lips are set in a straight line and his brown eyes are impassive. When he's ready to fly into a rage, his thin lips are set in a straight line and his brown eyes are impassive. Even troops from the Deep who know him find him unnerving. However, his tactical sense is superb and his training methods effective. Most importantly, he is one of the only Deep dwarves who will work with the human Jack "Pinky" Smith (albeit as an equal, not a subordinate).

He began training the most elite of Lord Rael's guard just a few short months after Prantz was taken. When the training is done above ground, his loud, flat basso is heard halfway across the city: "Formation! Weapons up! March!" The stoic Deep dwarf is respected by his troops due to a perception that he is fundamentally fair in his dealings.

Martalo De'Ferrum

He trains the battle clerics of Sulterio and does so well. He came with Lord Rael during the siege on the city and has remained, training first around the castle grounds, and now in the new temple that has a barracks for the clerics. He is a stocky Deep dwarf with black eyes and sparse gray hair. He is known to joke with his people, and any race that enters the temple with the intent to learn will be treated with respect. He has a wife on the surface and one daughter.

Chosen Jakaras Maulhandle

Jakaras is seen every evening leaving the temple and every morning returning. What he does is a public secret. The women who conduct short-term relationships in their homes or in houses dedicated to that occupation certainly know what this silver-haired, olive-eyed man wants. Beyond that he preaches the ways of Sulterio in a carefully censored service twice a week, and privately, to the Deep dwarves who choose to worship at set times (though many do not do this).

A visitor to the temple should be warned: Jakaras is pronounced JA-karas, not jak-ar-AS, which has led to an unflattering nickname among the ladies who take his coin in exchange for comfort.
