This is a monarchy with the head being either a king or queen and their consort. Presently the young queen Cynthia occupies the throne. She is unwed at present but rumors abound of the possibility of a match with the royal house of Arek Ravorinin to strengthen the ties with Sedera.

While the monarch is the absolute ruler, (s)he is aided in their duties by the court and several councils. Members of the advisory council are often referred to as vissiers. While the monarch holds absolute power, the vissiers are positions of great powers as well. There is a vissier in charge of the Treasury, one for Diplomatic Relations outside of Sun; one charged with heading the inner nobility courts, while another oversees the details of the masses. There is a vissier in charge of the military as well as one overseeing the various temples located within the Sun boarders. Only those temples dedicated to human deities are given official government recognition.

The council of the Keife is primarily responsible for matters of bloodlines and do keep very detailed family records. Some say they go as far as to arrange possible marriages and extra-marital matings to keep in line with the Journal du Keife set down by King Edmund. The kingdom is divided into six regions for means of government and taxation, as per the decree of King Arian in 565. Each of these regions, known as a liege, is the domain of one of the families of the royal peerage, and rule of them is heredity as long as the current monarch is in agreement. The monarch can at any time unseat a liege and replace them. This however is rarely done in modern times. Lieges are then further divided into shires, with minor peerage given dominion over the peasants and commoners that reside within and work the land.
