Az'atta once lived a very different life as a mortal. She served with religious fervor as a zealot for the Prince of Hate. She earned a high place within his order. However, his last command changed her life forever.

Az'atta was compelled to attack and destroy a monastery of Aragen, one that housed his child avatar. Az'atta drank of the child's blood while enacting a ritual in Ca'duz's honor. For a brief moment, she glimpsed the true path. She felt regret and sorrow for her past. Changed, she renounced her life and her people.

She and several of her followers, male and female alike, fled the Deep. Pursued relentlessly by those whom they had betrayed. Not trusted by the surface races, they led difficult lives. Many chose to return to Baraeon Ca'duz's service believing Az'atta's Way too difficult. Those who returned were ruthlessly slaughtered by those they had abandoned.

Undaunted by the abandonment and believing in their work, Az'atta and her two most loyal handmaidens sought out those in need. They aided in whatever way they could without thought or need of reward. The three focused only on the need for mercy, redemption, and love'driven by the need to atone for their deeds of the past. Az'atta often focused on aiding monasteries as much as possible, working to repay the debt her past had created.

After traveling widely, providing many selfless deeds to those in need, Az'atta and her handmaidens made a name for themselves. Slowly, they came to be accepted in the world above. An assassin of Corath, under the employ of the Church of Baraeon Ca'duz, found Az'atta and murdered her. Some say it was with gruesome fervor. True forgiveness, however, came to Az'atta upon her death.

Aragen and Goran raised her to goddesshood in recognition for everything she had accomplished in the latter portion of her life. The two who had been by her side through all of her trials became her first high priestesses.
