Prayers

Prayers to the Star's Mage are done at night when the constellation Lucinda's Necklace is visible in the sky.

"Lady of Spells, fountain of discovery.
In faith, in love, in magic, we seek the endless chain.
Forming bonds with past and future,
with the lost and the found.
In eternal search for knowledge unbound.

Mage of the heavens, guide our search.
First link of blessed birth.
Home of our hearts, guide our thirst.
Be our anchor, our berth.

And in your endless wonder.
In your twinkling eye.
Make this seeker of the unknown,
One of your pride, your smile."
-Piper, halfling wizard of Lucinda

"My Lady,
I come before you, a humble servant.
Grateful for the gifts you bestow on me.

I seek only to glorify you.
To demonstrate the truth of your power.
Let my every breath and every beat of my heart speak your name.

I pray that you use me to link others to the faith.
Together we are strong.
But only with your guidance."
-Galen Tweed of the Spellgard Tweeds, cleric and mage of Lucinda

Holy Days =====

  • Presage Confab on Apreal 10 and Septlar 10

Biannually the Presages meet, rotating around the different schools (with the exception of the Sun Kingdom Presage for obvious reasons). While this is not a holy day, it is often treated as one. Each Presage Confab lasts three days.

  • Gathering of the Scrolls on Mai 18

Alternating yearly between Spellgard and Castle Imjam, Thaumaturge leaders meet for one week to discuss issues, suggestions, spells, and most of all, to compare arcane research at their schools. As with the Presage Confab, this is treated as a solemn and important occasion by the hosting campus.

  • The Star's Mage Vinculum on Decilar 1

Meeting at the Temple of the Peractio in the cold month of Decilar, every confirmed member of the Illumination is welcomed for a gathering of, well, everyone. Tents spill out around Blackford Castle, which has special stores of food and drink for this event and throws dinner after dinner in the grand dining hall. Thousands attend and the atmosphere is festive despite the cold. Every evening a special presentation of spells is displayed for the crowds and prayers are led to Lucinda that result in what one attendee likened to "...the most powerful feeling of our Lady standing with us that I've ever felt. Everyone, everyone was nearly in tears. Some did cry. The Al'Noth was so thick you could breathe it." Presentations, speeches, prayers, votes, and dedications are all made from a plain podium located directly in front of the last spot Allurial stood before Lucinda opened up the skies to the sun and sent her representative to collect the Queen. That spot is always buried in blue and white flowers during the Vinculum.

  • The Feast of Al'Noth on Febra 15

During the deepest harsh of winter, it has become tradition since 1413 to open the doors of the Presages and bring in folks from the cities and surrounding country for a grand feast. Glamours and displays of fancy and illusion are mixed in with dinner in this "Feast of Knowledge." The brainstorm of a Thaumaturge named Kely Daean, the purpose is to further ties to the communities the schools are in and bring joy to the grayest month of the year. Children especially look forward to the Feast of Al'Noth and are often the driving force that brings the parents in to join.

  • Ordination of the Thaumaturge on Mai 30 and Seplar 30

Twice a year those who have joined the Thaumaturge go through a ceremony. While the confirmation of a Presage is now a streamlined, less cumbersome process, those who decide to devote the full of their time to the study of the Al'Noth are given a ceremonious welcome. Official welcoming by the heads of the Thaumaturges, a meeting of one's fellows, and feasting are the features of an Ordination.

  • Inaugural of the Reaching on Decilar 30

Joining the Reaching is a momentous event in one's life. The Reaching, while they do not hold themselves above the other schools, are representative of the highest power one can attain in the Illumination and are often both clerics and mages, further stretching their understanding and their power in the Al'Noth. The Inaugural is dignified, taking a full, slow day to complete; all in the Reaching join.
